Estyn Inspection - February 2026

Estyn Inspection Report Published – February 2026

We are pleased to share that Westwood Community Primary School’s final Estyn inspection report has now been published following our inspection in February 2026.

The report provides a very positive evaluation of our school and recognises the strong commitment of our staff, pupils, governors and families.

Key strengths highlighted by Estyn include:

  • A highly inclusive school community, where pupils and families feel valued, supported and listened to

  • Clear and effective leadership, with a strong understanding of pupils’ needs

  • A strong focus on pupil well-being, with sensitive and effective support, particularly for pupils with additional learning needs

  • Excellent family and community engagement, identified as a notable strength, with many opportunities for parents to work alongside their children

  • A positive reading culture, engaging curriculum experiences, creative opportunities and celebration of Welsh culture

  • Meaningful pupil voice and leadership, with pupils playing an influential role in school improvement

Estyn also identified three recommendations to help the school continue to improve, focusing on attendance, ensuring learning is consistently well‑matched to pupils’ needs, and further strengthening reading and writing skills. Work to address these areas is already underway, and a detailed action plan will be developed.

We are extremely proud of the findings in this report and would like to thank our pupils, staff, governors and families for their continued support and partnership.
