Macmillan Event, by Mrs Williams

Date: 12th Oct 2018 @ 10:13pm

A huge thank you to all our wonderful parents, staff, carers, governors, pupils and friends of Westwood for their amazing support for our annual Macmillan charity event. There were cakes and smiles galore...even the weather couldn't dampen our spirits as you braved the elements to be part of the afternoon. The children in Year 5 & 6 ran the afternoon brilliantly as the event was part of their  pupil voice RE work, with the other classes throughout the school holding their cakes sales during the day. It really was a whole school effort! Well Team Westwood!

I wonder how much money we've raised for this brilliant cause?

Class 9 and Class 8 - Hawkesbury War Memorial visit, by Mrs Brown

Date: 18th Sep 2018 @ 8:49pm

Year 5 and 6 visit to The Hawkesbury War Memorial

It was a pleasure to take our Year 5 and 6 children to visit the memorial today. Many questions the children had asked beforehand were answered as they explored the memorial garden and researched historical facts at the war memorial.

As always the children showed the utmost respect for the fallen soldiers of Buckley and the gardens were brought alive with their singing of Abide With Me, accompanied by the flute which was played by Mrs Farrah.

After completing research tasks and saying prayers for The Fallen, the children arrived safely back at school just in time for dinner.

Young Voices afternoon warm up , by Mrs Brown

Date: 27th Jan 2018 @ 10:34pm

Huge thanks to the Young Voices Foundation for providing a grant towards our transport costs, tickets for parents,  T -shirts, torches and wrist bands this year.  The Young Voices experience certainly touched many of us this year and it was fantastic to see the motivational and inspirational effect it has had on our pupils, parents and staff who have been a part of the whole experience.

Throughout this school year the children have practised wholeheartedly at lunch times and have been an absolute pleasuree to work with, they certainly do make Westwood proud.  It has been amazing watching so many youngsters commiting themselves to  music and song with such passion.

Once we arrive at Manchester on the day of the concert , Westwood's Young Voices went straight into practise mode with the professionals.  It was  great fun watching how the Urban Strides Dancers, the  internationally acclaimed conductor David Lawrence, Soul singer  Natalie Williams and 16 year old Alfie Sheard prepared for the evening performance. So much fun!

Enjoy the pictures and don't forget to scroll down and check out the videos too.
