Class 9 2019 - 2020

Mrs Brown

Croeso i Ddosbarth 9!

Welcome back and what a fantastic start to the new academic year, I have to say that we have had a lovely first few days with all the children in Year 6 and we feel very excited about the year ahead.

This half term our topic is 'Under the Sea'. The children will be having their say in what they want to learn about and currently,  as experts in all things under the sea,  they are busy developing their own companies.  Each company be tasked with drawing up and developing plans to tackle some of the problems with our world's oceans. I know the Year 6's will be the right people for the job!

Reading Reminder! In Year 6, we expect all children  to read  at least 5 times a week; reading diaries must be signed by an adult in order for pupils to earn their bonus break.

Homework is given out on a Friday and is due in on a Wednesday.  It is important that homework books are not lost as  we will be using them in our lessons too.

This term, Year 6 will be swimming each Monday afternoon. A towel and a swimming costume/trunks will be required. Our first lesson is o Monday 9th September and a letter has been sent home with each child.

PE kit will need to be brought into school on  a Monday and kept at school throughout the week.  There will be opportunities for physical activity in different areas of the curriculum so kit will need to be available throughout the week.

Our Welsh Dragon and his diary  will be sent home each week with a different child.  Please encourage your child to complete the diary to show the adventures of our class dragon using the Welsh phrases that are included in the diary. All entries will be shared with the class.

We are looking forward to the year ahead and the many fantastic opportunities that lie ahead.

 Diolch yn fawr!

What's Being Said?

"I never thought that Westwood was so large inside! From the road, it seems so small. What a wonderful use of space. The school has changed so much over the years!" - recent visitor to school
