Class 9 2019 - 2020

Mrs Brown

Croeso i Ddosbarth 9!

Welcome back and what a fantastic start to this half term., We have had a lovely first few days with all the children in Year 5 and  6, taking the children back in time to the rule of Queen Victoria and allowing them to experience first hand the life of a Victorian school child.

Thank you to all those children who completed their learning log on Queen Victoria, please ensure they are all returned by 13th January, diolch.

Maths - multiplication, division, fractions, decimals and percentages.

English - biographies, reports and stories

Welsh - Newyddion

Science - Electricity

PE - Hockey

Topic - Famous People from the Past - Victorians will be our focus

ICT - will be utilised across the curriculum and movie making skills developed

Reading Reminder! In Year 6, we expect all children  to read  at least 5 times a week; reading diaries must be signed by an adult in order for pupils to earn their bonus break. Any children not reading 5 times a week will lose their bonus break and stay in class to read.

Homework is given out on a Friday and is due in on a Wednesday.  It is important that homework books are not lost as it is costly to keep replacing them and also we will be using them in our lessons too.

PE kit will need to be brought into school on  a Monday and kept at school throughout the week.  There will be opportunities for physical activity in different areas of the curriculum so kit will need to be available throughout the week.As we will continue to  cover hockey skills this term, it is advisable for children to have warm joggers and a hoodie for PE as this time of year it can be particularly cold outside. Also trainers that can get muddy please.

Our Welsh Dragon and his diary  will be sent home each week with a different child.  Please encourage your child to complete the diary to show the adventures of our class dragon using the Welsh phrases that are included in the diary. All entries will be shared with the class.

We are looking forward to the term ahead and the many fantastic opportunities that lie ahead.

 Diolch yn fawr!

What's Being Said?

"I never thought that Westwood was so large inside! From the road, it seems so small. What a wonderful use of space. The school has changed so much over the years!" - recent visitor to school
